You know? Some people have more talent in their little finger than I do in my whole body.
Author Elin Gregory not only loves writing, she loves drawing too. She beta-read my "Hewhay Hall", so she knows it - and look what she painted for it. If that's not a teaser, then I don't know what is!!!
I adore illustrations and I think my favorite illustrator is Norman Rockwell. One of his paintings (The Freedom of Speech) was featured in my first novel "Perfect Score". Elin says her favorite illustrator is J.C. Leyendecker . She also told me that some writers use sketches as a way of setting their scenes or characters in their minds. So I asked her if she had any illustrations that she's used for her own writing. And look what she sent me!!! (They're all works in progress).

Hi Susan .. thanks for coming over to my castles - keep an eye open for the K one .. that's nearer Horsham!
ReplyDeleteI love illustrations in books - and wish I could draw - it's in the family .. but not me sadly. The illustrations give us an idea of what the author is thinking about ..
Elin's painting for your Hewhay Hall .. is extremely evocative .. and setting an idea during our read ..
Great to meet you - cheers Hilary
Wow she really is talented! I love hearing when people can not only write but draw to. Very inspirational to me!

ReplyDeleteThanks Deana and Sherry - she does draw well.
ReplyDeleteWow! What amazing sketches! I often wish I could draw better.
ReplyDeleteInspiring sketches indeed! I think I'd get as far as stick figures if I ever attempted to flesh out my characters in drawing. LOL
ReplyDeleteWow! Those are inpsiring and amazing sketches! She does draw really well.
ReplyDeleteShe does draw well! Thanks Tyrean, Jess and Cherie!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue and thanks to commenters for the compliments. Drawing is such fun!
ReplyDeleteThose drawings are amazing. Alas, mine are more this style. Love the idea of fish that fly, akin to penguins which are birds that swim.
