I've decided that I'm going to use my blog mostly to post reviews of books I've read. Authors need to find readers and we all read, don't we?
I'm an eclectic reader so my reviews will be about books in all kinds of genres.
Of course, my favourite books are the ones I can't put down, the ones that keep me wanting more and those whose main characters I'd love to meet (as long as they're not psychos!).
Today I've finished one, so here's my review.
AS WEEKENDS GO by Jan Brigden (genre: romance)
This is just the kind of romance book that I love. It's girl meets boy (or rather, woman meets man) but there's no awful swooning or OTT beating hearts and sweating brows. Instead this is a true to life tale of the angst that true love can bring. In this case Rebecca falls for Alex. The problem is, Rebecca is married.
No more spoilers, suffice to say that the group of characters are beautifully portrayed. Rebecca is the kind of woman you'd like as a friend, caring and strong. It is heartbreaking how she struggles to make her marriage work. Each character has a part written from their own point of view so we can see into the heads of all of them. Very well plotted, easy to read and the kind of book I couldn't put down, not even to sleep.
